The Mind-Behaviour-Gap

While  chatting yesterday with an always inspiring friend, I wrote: “People are not who they want to be.” Well, that´s something, that I´ve seen quite often in my life. People talking about how much they enjoy harmony, while behaving passive-agressive. They are preaching about truth and authenticity, while behaving manipulative. Seeing it within others has always been a reminder for me to stay grounded.

I guess that´s what Kryon means when he spoke about  the “fence-sitters”. Cause in theory everybody wants to have peace, but when it comes to daily interactions it gets difficult, as long as there´s no peace inside. And people want of course a clean environment, while still buying cheap products, wrapped in tons of plastic. In psychology that´s called the mind-behaviour-gap, describing the difference between thoughts and actions.

Everybody does it. I´m doing it. And I think that´s ok. Nobody´s perfect. Having an ideal is like watching the north-star as a navigation mark, to know in which direction to go. We know we can never reach him, but we´re on track. From my point of view we´re only getting in big trouble when we identify so much with the star, the ideal, that we refuse to reflect and therefore accept our human self here on earth. The one that is experiencing the journey.

This disavowed behaviour is causing a kind of self-inflation, together with pain and trouble, ending in total denial and infatuation. Interestingly enough, people with high standards and ideals have a much higher risk, to walk that path of illusion. They are longing so much for an ideal, that they can not deal with reality as it is. But only when we are facing reality, we are able to create change.

Therefore I really, really ask people to accept their flaws and shortcommings. When we love our messy selves, we have a much higher chance to really evolve and change. When we pick on ourselves, we are becomming destructive and therefore maybe create denial. From my point of view, that´s how we create shadow-aspects. We will than project our inner war onto the outside world, blaming others for the flaws and shortcommings that we can not accept within us, as they are not mirroring our “wanted reality”. Think about it as if life would offer a GPS, you can give in your goal until you are blue in the face, when you do not also allow to see your position in the now, the GPS will never ever be able to find your route. And you can than curse the GPS, but it´s the one using it, that has made the mistake. We all make them. Laugh about it and start anew. Just where you are. Be the change.
